Mother caught smoking drugs with her friends while her babies were watching

A mum-of-two has been arrested after she was allegedly caught smoking marijuana in her vehicle - whileher two babies were watching.

Erica Martinez was smoking with two friends in her car near an elementary school in Oklahoma City, USA.

Police were called to the scene by a neighbour who was concerned when they spotted a white Chrysler 300 parked in the driveway of a home, reports KOCO-TV.

Officers attended the scene and found the women smoking marijuana with Martinez in the driver's seat and her one-year-old son in the back in a baby seat, along with another one-year-old girl she was apparently looking after, according to court documents.

Sergeant Ashley Peters with the Oklahoma City Police Department said: "It was later determined these subjects were smoking marijuana and there was an odor of marijuana coming from that vehicle as well."

The officers also found out that two babies were strapped in car seats in the back of the car.

Peters added that:. “She would be prosecuted for disregarding the care of her own child as well as someone else's.”

Martinez has not been formally charged, but her bail is set at 25 million Naira.
