"If someone shows you a shred of disrespect once..." Nedović confirms no Zvezda return: That story is over!

When Nemanja Nedović stated earlier this summer that he still had a year left on his contract with KK Crvena zvezda Meridianbet, some fans thought the experienced guard would return to Mali Kalemegdan. However, that won't be happening...

Nemanja Nedović signed a two-year contract with Crvena zvezda Meridianbet last summer, only to be abruptly sent on loan to Monaco. As it turned out, the Monegasques "bought out" only one season of his contract. Following its conclusion, Nedović stated that he was still formally a Zvezda player. This confused some Red Star fans, who thought Nedović might return to Mali Kalemegdan after Monaco's financial woes. However, the experienced guard, appearing on the "Kole Point" podcast, dispelled all doubts, declaring that, at least concerning his playing career, his chapter with Crvena zvezda is closed.

Before that, Nedović explained how his departure from Crvena zvezda came about, especially right after signing a new two-year deal with the club.

Something changed in June, within a month. Everything would have been fine, as my contract was expiring anyway. They just needed to tell me then – 'Hey, we're thinking in a different direction, thanks for everything, the three years were great.' Even then, I wondered, what's going on? You tell me one story, but a different one is unfolding. It kept getting postponed and postponed... I was still negotiating with two other clubs at the time, one of them was quite serious. And then, the whole story completely changed. 'Come, let's sign the contract.' Željko (Drčelić) and I agreed in two minutes. Then something drastically changed, and that's that. That's more a question for them.Nemanja Nedović

And then he spoke about a potential return to Zvezda...

A return to Zvezda is not an option for me this year. I mean, what has changed in a year? What can change in a year? We saw Jago, who was also sidelined, then returned, and how that looked. If someone shows you a shred of disrespect once, they will do it again. That's something I made clear to those who needed to know a long time ago, that as far as my playing career (returning to Zvezda) is concerned – that story is over.Nemanja Nedović

Finally, Nedović also touched upon the transfer of Luka Vildoza (his former Zvezda teammate) to Partizan.

He's a great guy, and I really liked his style. You know, he was at Panathinaikos for 10 months, then Crvena zvezda for eight months, and Olympiacos for 10 months. If he had stayed somewhere for two or three years, if he had remained with a club in a different way, then you could hold it against him. But he's a foreigner, he plays basketball, he hasn't stayed anywhere for long. Okay, the fans were hurt by it, the transfer was a surprise, but it's not a tragedy to me. We attach too much importance to it. People take it too emotionally. It would be different if he were a local player. There are codes of conduct, what's done and what's not, but for a foreigner, it's overblown. They come to do their job, earn their money, and that's it.Nemanja Nedović
