This Monday, Sportal and the Olympic Committee of Serbia (OKS) brought together the elite of Serbian sports to discuss numerous compelling topics concerning the future of sports in the country.

Among those gathered was Živorad Vasić, President of the Crvena zvezda (Red Star) Management Board, who spoke during the second panel alongside Ostoja Mijailović and Dragoljub Zbiljić.

Following the panel, Vasić gave an interview to Sportal, where he began by summarizing the event's key message.

I believe the event was excellent and intimate, which is incredibly important. The speakers represented various sports sectors, which was also crucial. The core message was that we all must continue to invest in sports. I think everyone, in their own way, expressed gratitude for the contributions of the state, the fans, the management boards, and the business community.Živorad Vasić

He added that Red Star's goal is to find ways to self-finance and reduce its reliance on state funding.

We need to find money and channel it in a way that eases the burden on the state, with funds directed towards youth – for opening new sports facilities. The message is clear: we must invest more in sports and encourage children to participate for their health.Živorad Vasić

Vasić also commented on the current EuroLeague season. With four rounds remaining, Crvena zvezda is close to securing a playoff spot, and the club's Management Board President stated that the red-and-whites are striving for better results, with a quarter-final berth as their target.

Appetites always grow. If someone had offered this result at the start of the season, with these players, and talked about Butler and Nwora, and us being practically one game away from fourth or fifth place, I think everyone would have accepted it. Yet today, everyone is upset because we had two overtime games in Spain, winning one and losing one. It's very simple: we have four more games – the Eternal Derby, then Paris, ASVEL, and Real Madrid. Red Star aims to win every game, but we need three wins, certainly two, for the play-in. We must achieve a better result than last year, and that's what Red Star is striving for – to enter the Top 8. After that, every game is a lottery, and anyone can beat anyone.Živorad Vasić
