"I have a daughter and a son..." – Denver coach praises Jokic following another monster display by the Serbian center
- Denver defeats New Orleans behind another Jokic triple-double
Jokic posted 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in 34 minutes on the floor.
Following the game, David Adelman addressed the media and reflected on Jokic's milestone triple-double, which moved the Serbian superstar to within just nine of all-time record holder Russell Westbrook.
"Some of these players who have entered the NBA over the years are truly once-in-a-lifetime talents. It is completely unbelievable! I have a daughter and a son at home, and I try to explain to them that what they are watching is genuinely something special." – David Adelman
How Denver defeated New Orleans
As for the game itself, the Nuggets led wire-to-wire after jumping out to a 3-0 start. They dominated the opening quarter, establishing a 19-point lead (37-18) after the first 12 minutes. The home side gradually chipped away at the deficit through the second and third quarters, heading into the final frame trailing by just six (79-73). However, New Orleans lacked the firepower to complete the turnaround, as Denver held off the late charge to seal the win.
Jamal Murray led Denver in scoring with 23 points, while Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon added 15 apiece, with Gordon also pulling down 11 rebounds.
Zion Williamson paced the Pelicans with 25 points, but had little help from his teammates, with Jeremiah Fears and Derick Queen trailing as the next highest scorers with just 11 points each.
With this victory, Denver moved to a .500 record (2-2), while New Orleans remains winless to start the campaign at 0-4.
The Nuggets are back in action on Friday night when they visit the Phoenix Suns, while New Orleans hosts the Sacramento Kings a day earlier.
