Hungary's national team coach, Marco Rossi, has once again addressed the topic of Liverpool, specifically concerning his players Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez, who are both part of the Anfield club. On Friday, Rossi commented on the statements made by the English champions' manager, Arne Slot, giving the impression that he wasn't entirely pleased with Slot's desire for Szoboszlai and Kerkez not to be overexerted in Hungary's two friendly matches.
On Saturday, the Hungarians defeated Slovenia 1-0, and they are set to face Greece on Tuesday.
Before the international break, Slot had expressed his hope that national team coaches would understand that many of his players accumulate significant minutes on the pitch, and therefore, he hoped they wouldn't be used for the full 180 minutes.
"I read some nonsense in the press," Rossi stated. "You can't possibly think I'm so arrogant, conceited, and foolish as to compare myself to a coach managing a Premier League team. I cannot be compared to the Liverpool manager; I never intended for such a comparison to happen. Arne Slot said he hoped his players wouldn't play two full matches. I saved Dominik Szoboszlai ten minutes and Milos Kerkez twenty minutes."
"Slot is the coach of a top club," Rossi continued. "He deserves maximum respect. I am a nobody. But as the coach of the Hungarian national team, I believe the Hungarian national team also deserves respect, if only for its history. There is no dispute between us whatsoever."
