Huisen: If the Referee Had Reviewed the Replay, Valverde Wouldn't Have Received a Red Card

Real Madrid defender Dean Huisen commented on the sending off of his teammate Federico Valverde during their 3-2 La Liga victory over Atletico Madrid in the 29th-round derby. The Uruguayan received a direct red card in the 77th minute for a foul on Alex Baena of the 'Rojiblancos', a decision Huisen disagrees with.

"My opinion hasn't changed. He committed a foul and should have received a yellow card. It's obvious he kicked him, and that's a foul, but it's a yellow card offense. If the referee had reviewed the replay on the monitor, he would have clearly seen that it was a kick, but not one warranting a dismissal," Huisen stated to the club's official television channel.

Real Madrid is appealing Valverde's red card, which could see him suspended for one or two Spanish league matches.
