Andreas Schjelderup's Norwegian national teammates are full of praise for the Benfica winger, who scored a quality goal in their defeat to the Netherlands.
«He's incredibly strong. He's a fantastic player. He's fearless and went straight at Dumfries. It's great to have players like that on the team,» commented Alexander Sorloth, Norway and Atlético Madrid's striker.
Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland also weighed in, not forgetting Schjelderup's legal proceedings: «In life, mistakes are made. He was convicted and certainly learned from it. To have performed so well at Benfica shows how strong he is and he's delivering game after game. It's very good for us.»
Finally, national team coach Stale Solbakken offered praise but also tempered expectations when asked if Schjelderup now had an advantage over teammate Nusa in the national team hierarchy: «That's not how it works. They will play ten to fifteen club games before we meet again at the end of May. Then, Nusa will play against Switzerland. Perhaps then you can ask me if he's the first choice.»
