This 9-yr-old reporter signs book deal with Scholastic
9-year-old reporter, Hilde Lysiak just struck a worldwide book deal with Scholastic.
Lysiak, who rose to fame for being the first reporter to break a story on a murder in her hometown in Pennsylvania is to write a book series, alongside father Matthew Lysiak, aimed at readers aged six to eight.
Scholastic acquired the worldwide rights to the four books and it will be released next year.
The first of four, named Hilde Cracks the Case: Hero Dog!, will be released September 2017.
The remainder of the novels – all based on stories she's broken – will be fanned out over an eight-month period. The series of books have been branded “realistic fiction”.
The other books will be titled Bear on the Loose!!, UFO Spotted!! and Fire Fire!! – the last of which will be published May 2018.
Her father, Matthew is a former New York Daily News reporter who told The Huffington Post that his daughter caught the reporting bug when she was accompanying him on assignments.
Lysiak still publishes stories in her monthly newspaper The Orange Street News. The newspaper has 700-plus paid subscribers and is read by hundreds of thousands more on her website.
