According to Us Magazine, Swank confirmed the news of the split in an interview with the news agency.

The pair had earlier gotten engaged to each other in March 2016, after they had both gone hiking.

Swank shared her excitement concerning their engagement when she wrote, “Went on a hike and this happened! I am so happy to share with you all, the engagement to my dear Ruben. #Engaged,"

The actress was once married to actor, Chad Lowe, between 1997 to 2007. She explained that breaking up was not the easiest decision to make.

In a chat with Marie Claire, she said, "In life we have expectations of how things should turn out … Ending my marriage isn't something I take lightly,"

"But it was the right thing to do."
