While Partizan has missed out on several targeted reinforcements during the current transfer window, leaving the team's roster for the upcoming season uncertain, news is finally emerging about players who will be staying.
Following the official announcement of Kevarius Hayes as a new Partizan signing on Sunday, the club has now confirmed a positive outcome in negotiations with captain Vanja Marinković.
The injured captain reached an agreement with the black-and-whites in recent days to remain at Humska for another year, with an option to extend for an additional season.
The Serbian international has successfully completed his rehabilitation process and is counting down the days until his return to the court, after months sidelined due to an Achilles tendon injury and subsequent surgery.
To recap, Marinković's contract, signed in the summer of 2024, expired while the guard was on a long road to recovery from a severe injury. The experienced shooter suffered an Achilles tendon rupture in January during a EuroLeague clash against Hapoel Tel Aviv, necessitating surgery.
Given everything Partizan endured last season, it was clear they had to try and retain this player.
Marinković is a Partizan academy product who debuted for the first team back in 2013, representing the club until 2019. After a five-year stint in Spain, where he successfully played for Valencia and Baskonia, he returned home. Furthermore, he has become a regular for the Serbian national team, with whom he won a World Championship silver medal in Manila and an Olympic bronze in Paris.
