The Spanish Tax Agency is eagerly anticipating the outcome of the World Cup final against Argentina this Sunday and has already crunched the numbers. Experts from the Ministry of Finance estimate that the 17 players from Spanish clubs could contribute nearly 6 million euros in taxes.

A statement released by the institution clarifies that 4.4 million euros will go to the national tax agency. The remaining amount will be distributed among the treasuries of Navarre and the tax offices of the Gipuzkoa and Biscay provinces, depending on the clubs where the national team players compete.

The Ministry of Finance specifies that, according to Spanish administrative doctrine, bonuses are classified as income from employment for personal income tax purposes, even in the absence of an employment relationship. This classification prevents the application of a 30% reduction for income received in an obviously irregular manner over time. This affects players such as Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Pau Cubarsí, Eric García, Joan García, Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill, Álex Baena, and Borja Iglesias.

Furthermore, it is explained that Spanish taxation aligns with that of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, where the remaining players reside. These include Rodri, Raya, Zubimendi, Merino, Cucurella, Porro, Pino, Alejandro Grimaldo, and Fabián Ruiz.

Argentina and Spain will face off in the grand final of the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico this Sunday at 10:00 PM Bulgarian time. This match, along with all 104 games from the global championship in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, can be watched live on bnt.sportal.bg.
