Arsenal's German forward, Kai Havertz, is entering the new season with a confident declaration that he and his teammates "want to win everything they can again." The Gunners ended their 22-year wait for a league title last season and kicked off their defense with a convincing 3-0 victory over Coventry, a week after defeating Manchester City to lift the Community Shield. Mikel Arteta's squad also reached the Champions League final – a trophy that has eluded them – where they fell to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in Budapest this spring. However, Havertz believes the Gunners possess all the ingredients in their team chemistry to launch another assault on major trophies.
"Once you taste winning a title, you immediately want to experience it again and again. And we have a team that can compete for every possible trophy. Last year there was only one, but this year there are many more ahead, and we want to win everything. It's a long road, and right now, the focus is solely on the next match. We've taken some good steps, won the Super Cup, and also our first league game. But now the interesting part begins," said the German forward.
"We'll have the Champions League, the League Cup, and the FA Cup, as well as matches every three days, and then we'll show what we're capable of. We are positive and want to give our all this season to achieve our goals again and bring more titles to the club," he added. And while the team has improved, Havertz has staked his claim for a key role – his start to the season has been strong, scoring against both City and Coventry, and he is set to start against Aston Villa on Monday. The club also announced on Saturday that Marley Salmon signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday. The youngster is considered a future star and was previously sought after by other elite clubs.
