Harry Kane Weighs In on Who's Better Between Him and Haaland

England captain Harry Kane was, understandably, quizzed about Norway's star striker Erling Haaland during the press conference ahead of their World Cup 2026 qualifier. The upcoming match pits two of modern football's most prolific number nines against each other, making comparisons between the top forwards inevitable.

Kane responded diplomatically to the question: “It’s impossible to answer who is better between the two of us. Firstly, I think we are almost completely different players. I know we are both perceived as strikers, but to be completely honest, these are almost two different positions.”

“Erling is incredible, his goal-scoring record speaks for itself. Physically, he’s a machine, a beast. His finishing is top-tier, and obviously, his goal-scoring record speaks for itself.”

The England and Bayern Munich forward added: “I see myself as a different player, even though I score similar goals. I perhaps like to touch the ball a bit more, to be a bit more involved in the build-up, but I can also play as a pure number nine. I don't think it's fair to compare us.”

All World Cup matches are broadcast live on bnt.sportal.bg. The platform will stream all 104 games from the World Cup 2026 schedule in real-time.

“I have a lot of respect for Haaland as a player and as a fellow professional. Of course, I hope he has a quiet day tomorrow. Overall, his performance in recent years speaks for itself. He is a fantastic player.”
