Lewis Hamilton cut a frustrated figure following the Mexico City Grand Prix, where the seven-time world champion finished runner-up behind Max Verstappen.

The British Ferrari driver started from pole position, but a contentious first-lap incident involving teammate Charles Leclerc effectively gifted the win to Verstappen. In the aftermath, Hamilton stressed that the Scuderia must hold some serious discussions behind closed doors.

However, the Briton began his post-race reaction by congratulating newly crowned world champion Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Italian finished third at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, which was enough to seal the drivers' title with four rounds remaining in the season.

"First off, just look at this crowd. We have to give credit to the fans. Massive congratulations to Kimi and the Mercedes team. It's fantastic to see them all up on the podium celebrating their success. The youngest world champion in history—that's a truly phenomenal achievement. I'm grateful to have been in this race and witnessed this moment," Hamilton said before reflecting on the race in Mexico. "A tough day. I think we had the pace to win today, but it just wasn't meant to be. We'll discuss what happened away from the spotlight and try to figure out what we can do. In the drivers' briefing, we made it clear that if you go off track at Turn 1, you have to give the position back. "Last year, I was handed a 10-second penalty for the exact same move Charles made today. Ultimately, that's what cost us the victory. I think we definitely need to have some serious conversations behind the scenes. "On the positive side, the team is working incredibly hard. We've really improved the car significantly. I'm pleased to be here, especially as we were running an older-spec engine this weekend. A good result and vital points. It's disappointing not to win, but you win some, you lose some," the seven-time world champion concluded.
