If youve ever seen Hulu's The Act , you know that its riveting. Couple that with the fact that its based on the true story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother Dee Dee , and its straight-up jaw dropping. Apparently, the people behind the Emmys think so, too, because they recently nominated the series' star, Joey King (who plays Gypsy), for an Emmy.

And while Joey recently shared an adorable Instagram video of herself bawling and then Facetiming her mom when she found out she'd been nominated, the real Gypsy Rose wasn't as thrilled by the news.

Fancy Macelli, a spokesperson for Gypsy and her family, told TMZ that while Gypsy "sincerely congratulates" Joey on her nomination, she has "ZERO interest" in meeting her. (Joey previously told E! that she wants to meet Gypsy and that all she wanted to do is to "do right by her.")

According to Macelli, Gypsy says that the storyline is "inaccurate" and that she thinks meeting Joey would "validate the series' narrative." Among other things, Gypsy apparently thinks the show makes her look like a nymphomaniac and doesnt like how often the character of Dee Dee ties up the character of Gypsy in bed on the show (she says it only happened once, after she tried to escape).

In case youre not familiar with the show, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is the victim of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard's, Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Basically, Dee Dee forced Gypsy to pretend to be physically and mentally disabled, as well as terminally ill for the majority of her childhood and young adulthood. Eventually, Gypsy had her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, murder Dee Dee , and now, theyre both serving time in jail for it.
