Golden State Pulling Out All Stops to Recruit the King

The Golden State Warriors have brought in Frank Vogel, the former head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Vogel, who won an NBA title with the Lakers in 2020 as head coach, will join Steve Kerr's coaching staff as an assistant.

The Warriors are reportedly hoping that Vogel's arrival in San Francisco could be the key to luring LeBron James, despite reliable NBA insiders already reporting that "King James" has agreed to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Vogel served as the head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2019 to 2020, leading them to an NBA championship in 2020 alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. After his tenure with the Lakers, he had a brief stint with the Phoenix Suns before becoming an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, and now, the Golden State Warriors.

It's also worth noting that Vogel's resume includes two consecutive conference finals appearances in 2013 and 2014, during the Paul George era. There's no doubt he'll be a significant addition to Steve Kerr's coaching staff, especially given his reputation as a defensive mastermind.

Since news broke of James's departure from the Lakers, speculation has been rampant in the media about where the "King" might continue his career. Golden State fans (and many neutral observers) had hoped that James, in his "last dance," might join Steph Curry for one final attempt at conquering the NBA.
