"I was supposed to be in Miami for the bronze medal match between England and France. Unfortunately, the weather here didn't allow us to take off, so we came to the final stadium to check if everything was ready," Infantino explained in a video recorded on Saturday at the East Rutherford stadium.

The facility near New York is set to host the tournament final on Sunday, featuring Spain and Argentina.

On Friday, the head of world football was in New York for a media event alongside US President Donald Trump. Numerous flights to and from the city were canceled due to the inclement weather.

In the third-place match, England triumphed over France with a 6-4 victory, securing the bronze medals at the 2026 World Cup. The battle for the world title between Argentina and Spain is scheduled for Sunday evening, Bulgarian time.
