The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati tweeted some of Jonathan’s achievements on Sunday, November 23, and included the photo of a building on the premises of the Kano-state owned Northwestern University.

However, officials of the state took exception to the move and are accusing the presidency of fraud saying that some of the projects cited were actually carried out by Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The Special Assistant on Media to Kwankwaso, Jaafar Jaafar told Premium Times that Mr. Abati was deliberately misleading the public in a bid to cover up for a “non-performing” president.

“This clearly shows the desperation of the Jonathan team for reelection. Why should they lie? Why should they mislead the world?” Jaafar said.

"That building was built entirely with funds belonging to Kano people. When Governor Kwankwaso came, he spent hundreds of millions of naira to complete and furnish it. It was then put to use as one of the structures at the temporary site of Northwestern University,” he added.

The governor’s aide also urged the Federal Government to make achievements of its own instead of claiming credit for things it did not do.

“But in the interim, we deserve an apology from the Federal Government for taking credit for something they did not achieve,” Jaafar concluded.

The offending tweet has been taken down by Mr. Abati.
