Gary Neville: I've Watched Manchester United Since I Was Five, Never Seen Such a Lack of Desire

Manchester United's challenging start to the season has left them languishing at the bottom of numerous statistical charts, drawing sharp criticism from leading pundits across the country. The 20-time champions sit a lowly 12th in the Premier League table after a 1-1 draw against Fulham, having secured just one victory in their opening five matches.

According to data compiled by GeniusIQ and reported by Sky Sports, United ranks 20th in several key metrics: distance covered by players at high intensity, total time spent playing at high intensity, sprints, and time spent running at high speed. This apparent lack of commitment from the players appears to be a significant issue in manager Michael Carrick's first full season at the helm.

Former captain Gary Neville, now a Sky Sports analyst, lambasted United, stating they looked "pathetic" against Fulham.

"I've been watching Manchester United since I was five years old, and against Fulham, I witnessed the weakest 15 minutes this team has ever played. I've never seen such a lack of desire before," Neville remarked.

Carrick's side ran 6.6 kilometers less than Fulham, once again raising questions about the players' fitness levels.

"They played with much more energy than us at the start of the second half, and we know that's unacceptable. We always play better after conceding a goal, but this cannot continue," said Matheus Cunha, who scored the Red Devils' only goal.
