Discussions are intensifying regarding a potential collaboration between the EuroLeague and the NBA. For now, both sides are keen to extend a hand of friendship, and the operational models of some clubs have also received praise.

“Communication is excellent, and I must emphasize that. My relationship with EuroLeague President Dejan Bodiroga is more than cordial. I wouldn't call it a friendship, but it's certainly very good. Of course, the same was true with Mr. Motiejunas. I already have a very open and direct relationship with numerous clubs. Maccabi, Bayern, Marko Pešić – we've known each other since we were kids. However, this isn't just about human relationships; it's about money and people who act as true financiers because basketball is their passion. Eternal gratitude to Juan Roig or the Giannakopoulos family. There are also models where football clubs finance basketball teams.” – Jorge Garbajosa
European clubs are generating losses, a problem the NBA was the first to notice.
“When we speak with the NBA, they tell us they are concerned because clubs are generating losses. I'm not saying it, but their budgets clearly show it. The NBA asserts that we can achieve a business model that generates profit for basketball's development. Currently, we have a model with 13 very important clubs that deserve all the recognition, but they cannot dictate how the rest of Europe and the world will play, because when World Cup qualifiers are held, it impacts Africa, America, Asia, and Oceania.” – Jorge Garbajosa

He also addressed the departure of young players to colleges.
“Look, you can't put a fence around an open field. Ultimately, as we all know, a player has the right to choose where they play, as long as a valid contract is respected. It's true that the NCAA is still a university league, but it's becoming less so as it becomes increasingly financially competitive in terms of finances and salaries. I believe there should always be compensation for those clubs that choose to develop players; that's fair and just.” – Jorge Garbajosa
