From Zadar to Belgrade: Baldwin's Father Played for Dalmatian Club in EuroLeague in 2000

Patrick Baldwin has reinforced Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. The 23-year-old American played 103 NBA games over the past four years, representing the Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers, and Sacramento Kings. He is the son of former basketball player Pat Baldwin, who once played for Zadar, among other teams.

Patrick Baldwin Jr., a former American U19 gold medalist and a versatile forward, has joined Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. He previously had a solid number of appearances for both the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards in the world's premier basketball league.

His most recent stint was with the Sacramento Kings. He was a 28th overall pick in the NBA draft.

His father, Pat Baldwin Sr., made his mark in Europe's top club competition exactly a quarter-century ago, playing for none other than Zadar.

That was during the 2000/2001 season, the historic inaugural season of the new EuroLeague format under ULEB. Zadar was part of the elite that year, and Pat Baldwin, a former Northwestern University student, arrived as one of their key reinforcements at the point guard position.

After his European chapter, Pat Sr. returned to the USA, where he built a significant coaching career at the collegiate level, notably leading the University of Milwaukee, where he coached his son, Patrick Jr.

A quarter-century later, fate has brought the Baldwin name back to the EuroLeague courts. Patrick Baldwin Jr., once a top prospect, a "five-star" high school talent, and a player drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2022 draft, will now aim to justify the opportunity given to him by the storied club from Mali Kalemegdan.
