Veteran Greek basketball player Thanasis Antetokounmpo could be set for a return to his homeland after seven years in the NBA. According to Greek media reports, Thessaloniki-based Aris is showing serious interest in acquiring his services.
The information was first reported by "LaCentral ACB," which suggests that Antetokounmpo's friendly relationship with a key shareholder of the Thessaloniki club could play a crucial role in negotiations.
An additional factor that might influence his decision is the fact that his younger brother, Kostas Antetokounmpo, a teammate of Danilo Anđušić, already plays for Aris. The prospect of playing together again could be decisive in finalizing this transfer.
Thanasis, the older brother of NBA superstar Giannis, is out of contract with the Milwaukee Bucks at the end of the current season. His NBA career, marked by frequent injuries and limited playing time, appears to be drawing to a close.
Although he had a solid role earlier in the decade, averaging around ten minutes per game, his impact on the Wisconsin team has become negligible over time.
Before heading to America, Thanasis enjoyed a successful stint with Panathinaikos. Now, as his career winds down, he could move to Thessaloniki, where Aris is also reportedly considering bringing in coach Duško Ivanović, a move seen as a response to Andrea Trinchieri's arrival at city rivals PAOK.
