Andrea Kimi Antonelli made his car racing debut in September 2021, and just over five years later, the Italian became the youngest World Champion in Formula 1 history.

Antonelli made his single-seater debut in Italian F4, contesting the final three rounds of the 2021 season. Over the winter of 2021–2022, he finished third in F4 Middle East before capturing both the Italian and German F4 titles in 2022.

Two more titles followed in 2023 in Formula Regional Middle East and European championships. Claiming four titles in just two years led to the decision for Antonelli to skip Formula 3 and jump straight into Formula 2 for 2024. Even before the season began, speculation was already mounting that the Italian could secure a race seat at Mercedes in 2025 following Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari.

That was exactly what happened, although Antonelli's debut Formula 1 season was not without its challenges. In his second campaign in the World Championship, the Italian raised his game considerably, sealing the world title four rounds early after claiming nine wins in the first 19 races.
