BRUSSELS, May 7 (Reuters) - French Finance Minister Michel Sapin said that a new British government should not count on being able to renegotiate EU treaties as Prime Minister David Cameron has said he will do if he wins Thursday's election.

Sapin told a news conference EU leaders should not rule out profound reforms of their union but cautioned that in current circumstances it would be wrong to start from an assumption of revising treaties. French officials have warned that they would struggle to win a referendum that would be required to ratify treaty changes. (Reporting by Alastair Macdonald; editing by Adrian Croft; @macdonaldrtr)
