Sean O'Malley is eager to compete at the upcoming UFC White House event, but he might not be as thrilled about the gear he'll be wearing in the Octagon. On Monday, the UFC unveiled new exclusive fight kits, crafted by Venum, which fighters will don during the UFC White House event. All 14 competitors scheduled for the gala will be outfitted in red, white, and blue uniform variations, but the former bantamweight champion admitted he wasn't particularly impressed with what he's expected to wear for his bout against Ayman Zahabi.
"I don't even know if I should say it… they're ugly," O'Malley stated about his fight kit on his podcast. "Mine were ugly. I don't like them. They're not pink, which is fine, I've worn other colors anyway. I'm not going to refuse to show up because my shorts aren't pink. I'll dye my hair pink, whatever. I just think, did they go on 'Fiverr' and say, 'Hey, we have some guys fighting on the White House lawn, can you just whip something up?' When I wore them, they were white, which is whatever. I like white, Dana White… I just didn't like them," he added.
Fiverr is a website where clients can connect with freelancers for various tasks, including graphic design, with prices sometimes being quite low.
O'Malley promises he'll make the best of a bad situation, no matter what. The American's plans include bloodying Zahabi during their fight and giving his UFC White House uniform a new color by the time he's finished his work.
"I will say I like the white because I truly believe I'm going to smash Ayman," O'Malley said. "I'm going to bloody his nose. I think I'm going to hit him a lot. I think he's going to be very tough. I think he's going to be very durable. I think I'm going to beat him up, something like Chris Moutinho. I'm excited for my white shorts to turn red. I'll see how red I can make my white shorts from his blood. But overall, I didn't like them at all," he concluded.
