We all probably know at least one picky eater, you know that person who has about a dozen things they'll never eat for a bunch of reasons - some understandable like allergies, and others just plain bizzare.

Here are 5 life-saving skills we can all learn from picky eaters.

1. Detecting ingredients: Ever notice how picky eaters can detect the presence of an ingredient no matter how well it's hidden? Try serving food laced with just a sprinkle of ground crayfish to someone who doesn't eat it, for instance, and watch how they'll be able to tell just by smelling the food. Epic.

2. Making great orders when a restaurant menu is vague: Ordering the right item from a restaurant menu can be a tricky affair. But leave it to picky eaters, who are usually less adventurous, to make some excellent choices in these situations.

3. Picking really good restaurants: By extension of point number 2 above, picky eaters would have a knack for picking great restaurants because they're not about to risk their selective palates for an unmemorable culinary experience.

4. Patience: Let's face it, picky eaters can have a steely resolve and the patience of Biblical Job. Wonder how? When faced with a food item they can't stand, picky eaters will painstakingly remove every last item from their food before eating. If that isn't patience and steely resolve, we don't know what is.
