Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski is finally nearing a return to action after an absence of over 500 days. The Swede last featured for the Spurs on May 11, 2025. Then-manager Ange Postecoglou initially downplayed the injury, stating it wasn't serious. However, the situation proved far more critical, requiring Kulusevski to undergo two surgeries for a problem with his right knee cap. This extensive recovery also meant he was overlooked by Graham Potter for the World Cup last summer.
Kulusevski has been training with his teammates for about a month now, and the plan is for him to make his comeback after the international break. He could even be included in Tottenham's squad for the away fixture against Manchester United on October 10.
Kulusevski's return would undoubtedly be a significant boost for Roberto De Zerbi, given his versatility to operate both on the right flank and in the number 10 role. Since joining Tottenham from Juventus in the summer of 2023, following an initial loan spell in North London, he has scored 55 goals in 146 appearances across all competitions. A lack of creativity has been one of the team's major issues this season, so the Swede's return is eagerly anticipated by long-suffering Tottenham fans. Despite spending over £350 million on new players this summer, the club is yet to secure a Premier League victory this season.
