Former Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís shared his belief that the club has grown stronger compared to his playing days. The Brazilian was part of the "Rojiblancos" between 2010 and 2019.

"I was incredibly happy at this club. We achieved great success, but the main feeling I have now is pride in what Atlético has become. It's incomparably bigger than when I left. The management, Diego Simeone, and the recruitment of top-tier players deserve immense credit for this. Currently, the squad boasts players with incredible quality," Filipe Luís stated.

"I see a team that is extremely difficult to play against: they know how to defend deep, press high, and play vertically. That's why it's always tough against Atlético. I don't want to jinx them, but I hope they eliminate Barcelona in the Champions League; after that, it will be very interesting," he added.

Filipe Luís was recently dismissed as coach of Flamengo. He led the Brazilian giants to a Copa Libertadores title in 2025.
