1930-2014: Europe Conquering South America! (Part 1)

The FIFA World cup is arguably the world’s most popular international tournament, with about 204 qualifiers and 32 finals since its inception in 1930.

Except for the years which the World War 11 ravaged the entire world; in 1942 and 1946 during which the global fiesta did not hold; every four years, the World sits in cheers and jeers behind their TVs to watch the most spectacular show on earth.

Since 1930, the World Cup has been held every four years involving over almost all who have to gain qualification to the final 32 through their continental slots.

Africa for its own side only got the chance to play in the World Cup for the first time in the second edition when the Pharaohs of Egypt together with other 12 countries from around the World met in Uruguay for the 1930 finals.

After that , it has evolved over time to include more countries: and remained so until.

what it is came into being at the 1998 finals in France and has been so till the recent 2014 Finals won by Germany.

It is called the World Cup but one tenders to ask if indeed it involves the World; other than several countries, it is still a dream some nations in the World may not reach.

Looking into the records, only two continents Europe and South America have won all the 20 editions, out of which Europeans has won 5 times and South America 4 times.
