FIFA, already facing criticism over the high ticket prices for this year's World Cup in the United States, is now offering for sale pieces of the very turf that will be used for the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Each piece is priced at $450.
The official FIFA online store states that each turf piece measures 17.5 x 17.5 x 17.5, but it doesn't specify whether these dimensions are in inches, centimeters, or millimeters. The global football governing body did not immediately respond to an email inquiry for more details regarding the measurements.
“Own a true piece of football history with an authentic piece of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final pitch, permanently preserved in a premium acrylic casing with a USB souvenir,” reads the product description on the website. “Each piece contains an original fragment of the playing surface from the iconic final, making it a unique collectible that commemorates one of the world's greatest sporting events.”
FIFA further adds that the “acrylic USB souvenir features a protective film for authenticity and serves as an elegant, modern display piece. The product is presented in a luxurious hinged box with special UV details and is designed for collectors, fans, and football enthusiasts.” The organization specifies that the turf fragments can only be shipped to addresses within the United States and Europe. “Orders will not be dispatched before the World Cup final.”
