The F1 paddock last visited the track on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur in 2017 for the final running of the Malaysian Grand Prix. The event made its debut in 1999 and remained a permanent fixture on the calendar for 18 seasons, staging some truly memorable races.

Ferrari stands as the most successful constructor in Malaysian Grand Prix history with seven wins. The Prancing Horse triumphed in Formula 1's first three visits to Malaysia in 1999, 2000, and 2001, before adding four more victories in 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2015.

Trailing the Scuderia in second place is Red Bull with five victories, including back-to-back wins in the final two Malaysian GPs in 2016 and 2017, courtesy of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen respectively. The Bulls' other three triumphs were scored by Sebastian Vettel in 2010, 2011, and 2013.

The German is the most successful driver at Sepang with four career victories. Alongside his three wins with Red Bull, he also claimed top spot with Ferrari in 2015, which marked his maiden victory for the Prancing Horse.
