Rapper celebrates "Stories That Touch" album release with complete performance at Industry Nite
Falz has celebrated the release of his sophomore album at Industry Nite.
The popular rapper who in 2014 released his debut LP, “Wazup Guy”, has doubled that tally by scoring another album titled “Stories That Touch.”
A huge turnout of guests was recorded, as stars, media men, industry players, friends, and colleagues were on hand to join in the celebration. This was the night when Falz’s new work needed support, and it received it aplenty.
The night kicked off lightly with a number of acts opening for the rapper and preparing the crowd for the headliner. They included Capital Hill Music/The Goretti Company act Mz Kiss, Baseline Music reformer Saeon Moruda. Skales and Cameroonian rap star Stanley Enow also came through with special performances.
DJ Consequence was on hand to supply the music, and Spanky, the weaved-mic man, handled compere duties and kept activities ticking over nicely. The partnership of this duo, which started off shaky, has slowly become performance chemistry, with the DJ and Hype man, complementing their efforts to bring entertainment on the night.
Falz finally took the stage after an preparatory interlude which had the ubiquitous soundtrack of WWE fighter, Undertaker, whipping guests into heightened state of anticipation.
The rapper decked in in a brown Agbada, snapback cap, and his signature frames, against a background of a throne, and a kingly crown. These were all needed for the performance of his opening track, ‘Kabiyesi’. The song featured the singer Oyinkansola, who switched on her uber-indigenous element to combine live with Falz.
The singer then went through a number of his songs, with dance and choreography support by the buzzing female dance group G.G.B, a trident, made up of Ella, Liquorose, and E4ma.
Another highlight performance was the appearance of Simi, the sultry singer who is featured on the love ballad ‘Soldier’.Reekado Banks fulfilled his collaborator duties in style on ‘Celebrity Girlfirend’.
This was the night when Falz officially introduced his producer Sess, who largely handled the creation of the album, and sang his way through on ‘Time Difference’. Reminisce upped the mood with a verse on ‘Atewo’. Chyn and Poe also gave support on ‘Chardonnay music’.
The night ended with two versions of the hit single ‘Karishika’ being performed, as rappers Show Dem Camp stomped the stage for a rousing closing.
Prior to the show, Falz had envisaged a standout performance on this special occasion, and this night, was that vision becoming reality.
