Fake prophet arraigned for alleged N2.4m fraud
Eluma, popularly known as 'Doctor Eluma', was arraigned before the court on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining the sum of N2,452,500 under false pretence.
He is reported to have been parading himself as a prophet and a PhD holder for many years.
According to EFCC, Eluma presented himself to the petitioner as a Director at the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, capable of securing a job for him at Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).Â
He also obtained several funds with a promise to secure visa to Dubai and USA for the petitioner’s relatives as well as to import a fairly used Toyota Camry from USA for him.Â
Eluma, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him by the anti-graft agency.
In his ruling, Justice Liman granted him bail on the term of presenting one surety and the sum of N2,000,000 in like sum.
Liman ordered that the defendant remain in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail condition while the case was adjourned till February 13, 2019.
