Everton is reportedly planning to offer manager David Moyes a new contract this summer. The seasoned tactician has transformed the club from relegation candidates into contenders for European qualification, according to The Guardian. When the Scot took the helm of the Toffees in January 2025, they were just one point above the relegation zone. At that time, Everton's management offered him a two-and-a-half-year deal. Fourteen months later, his team sits eighth in the Premier League with 46 points, only three points shy of the top five.
Initially, David Moyes was brought in as a short-term solution by the new American owners, the Friedkin Group. However, they are now convinced that the 62-year-old manager is the right person to lead the club forward in the long term. The Guardian reports that formal negotiations will not take place until the end of the season, but Everton is confident that Moyes is ready to extend his stay. His new contract is expected to grant him a greater role in player recruitment, as the club believes he works more effectively with experienced players than with younger talents.
This marks David Moyes' second stint at Everton, having previously managed the team between 2002 and 2013 before taking charge of Manchester United.
