Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has declared his England call-up "means everything" to him after a string of injuries. He hopes this opportunity will help him establish himself in Thomas Tuchel's squad. The 24-year-old is part of the England team for the four Nations League matches, having been cut from the extended World Cup squad in April.
"I was devastated so many times, coming back from injury only to face new setbacks," Branthwaite told reporters at St. George's Park. "That's why this England call-up means everything to me. All the hard work and rehabilitation have been worth it. I'm just happy to wear the England shirt again," he added. "We found someone in Germany who takes a holistic approach to the body. Touch wood, he's got me back in good shape," the footballer admitted, referring to his injury woes.
"It's a privilege to be in the squad and represent England. I believe all the players are committed to playing for their country," Branthwaite stated. England kicks off their Nations League campaign against world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday, before traveling to Prague for a match against the Czech Republic on September 29th. Tuchel's side will then face Croatia in Rijeka on October 3rd, and host the Czechs three days later.
