EuroLeague Bombshell: Europe's Top Guard Heads to the Reds!

You followed the thrilling EuroLeague Final between Olympiacos and Real Madrid live on Sportal.

Fans of the Piraeus Reds will have double the reason to celebrate this wild night. Just minutes after securing the EuroLeague title, Eurohoops announced that the new European champions have finalized a deal for Gian Montero.

As Mundo Deportivo previously reported, the player rejected a contract extension offer from Valencia, with Olympiacos set to be his next destination. Crvena Zvezda, Panathinaikos, Dubai, and several other clubs were also in the running, but Olympiacos proved most successful in negotiations.

The Dominican point guard shone in his debut EuroLeague season, earning the Rising Star award, a spot on the All-EuroLeague First Team, and MVP honors for the playoffs after an epic series that saw his team overturn a deficit against Panathinaikos.

Olympiacos acted swiftly, beating out strong competition, and the agreement is reportedly all but done.

Valencia's attempt to increase his salary until 2028 wasn't enough to prevent the transfer, while a buyout clause of less than 1,000,000 euros also proved too low to deter the newly crowned EuroLeague champions.
