Esteban Ocon has declared himself a “free agent” for the 2027 Formula 1 season, as speculation mounts regarding his future with the Haas team.

Ocon joined the American outfit last year and enjoyed a promising start, securing a fifth-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix. However, the 2026 season has proven challenging for both Ocon and Haas, with the Frenchman only managing to break into the top 10 twice across the 14 rounds completed so far.

Recent rumors suggest Ocon might depart Haas before the 2027 season. Formula 2 title contender Rafael Camara is widely considered the frontrunner to replace the Frenchman, potentially partnering with Oliver Bearman.

“I am definitely a free agent for next year at the moment. There are things being discussed that are out of my control,” Ocon told the media ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend. “There are certain topics that are not up to me. So I will continue to give my best until the end of the year and we will see how things unfold,” the French driver added.
