'Envious, dismissive and ignorant': Ronaldo's sister hits out on social media
Cristiano Ronaldo's sister, Elma Aveiro, took to social media to react to the forward's departure from the Portugal national team camp. Sharing a post on her Instagram stories, she added the caption: "Enough said."
"CR7 deserved more respect. The national team deserved better structure. Portuguese journalism deserved more competence and less speculation. As for the Portuguese people, well... they don't deserve the best of anything. We are envious, dismissive, ignorant, and deserve to return to the mediocrity we were always mired in before CR7. Thank you for everything, CR7! You deserved better!" read the post shared by Aveiro.
Ronaldo confirmed on Wednesday that he had decided to leave the national team camp after missing training. "Following the national team manager's press conference and subsequent discussions with the Portuguese Football Federation president, I made the decision to leave the national team camp. In due course, I will reveal the full truth to all Portuguese people regarding the reasons behind my departure from the national team, to which I have always been completely dedicated. For now, it is time to wish Portugal and all my teammates the very best of luck, without exception," the Al Nassr forward explained.
Ronaldo stated that his decision to leave Copenhagen came after Jorge Jesus's press conference, during which the manager insisted there was "no issue" with the player. He also spoke with Pedro Proença before confirming his departure from the squad, just a day ahead of Portugal's Nations League Group A4 fixture against Denmark in Copenhagen.
