Chime told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu that the team’s first victory in the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) would usher in more wins.

“Our victory over El-Kanemi was as a result of commitment on the part of the players as they did not give up because they did not score early until the 72nd minute of the match.

“This is a club we defeated 4-0 in our last match of the 2015/2016 season, so the spectators were looking forward to witness the scoreline in our favour.

“The spectators’ high target made it difficult as the goals refused to come but the goal delay did not discourage the players.

“I am so happy that our winless streak has come to an end in our third match of the season and I believe that we are going to be in a better position before the CAF Champions League starts in February,’’ he said.

The Rangers spokesman said that the technical crew will still work on the players to ensure that they get more points in away matches this season compared to last season.

“With more points from away matches, Rangers will be in a position to defend the trophy we won last season as they have vowed not to lose points again at home,’’ Chime said.

He called on the technical crew to keep doing their best till the players understand themselves more and till there are perfect transition from the back to the attack.

Rangers’ occupy 9th position after three matches with four points at the ongoing NPFL with Plateau United of Jos leading on the league table with 9 points from three matches played so far.
