Enes Kanter Freedom announced on Friday his intention to officially declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft, an initiative he frames as a challenge to the current eligibility and inclusion rules of the American women's league.
In a statement released on social media, Kanter stated that, after reviewing the WNBA's regulations with his team, he believes he meets the necessary criteria to register as a candidate.

Kanter asserted that his decision is a response to the interpretation of current rules regarding gender identity and participation in sports. According to him, his legal team has analyzed the competition's eligibility criteria and concluded that he can officially submit his candidacy for the draft scheduled for April 2027.
