Eder Sarabia Appointed New Espanyol Head Coach

Former Barcelona assistant Eder Sarabia has been appointed as Espanyol's new head coach on a contract running until June 2028. He replaces Manolo González, who was dismissed following the club's exit from the Copa del Rey.

Sarabia, 46, was most recently at the helm of Elche, whom he guided to promotion to La Liga and subsequently kept in the top flight for two seasons.

Sarabia previously served as Quique Setién's assistant at cross-city rivals Barcelona in 2020. He will make his dugout debut against Villarreal on Friday, with the Catalans currently sitting 18th in the table on eight points from 10 matches.
