Lusaka is the capital city of Zambia and touted as one of the fastest-developing cities in Southern Africa

The annual report ranks 133 cities based on a twice-yearly survey, comparing more than 400 individual prices across 160 products and services in 133 cities, including food, drink, clothing, household supplies and personal-care items, home rents, transport, utility bills, private schools, domestic help and recreational costs.

According to EIU, "the cost-of-living index uses an identical set of weights that is internationally based and not geared toward the spending pattern of any specific nationality,"

On the flip side, Singapore emerged as the most expensive city to live in. Other cities in the top 10 running included London, New York and Los Angeles.
