In addition to head coach Carlos Corberan, General Manager Ron Gourlay has also departed. Oscar Sanchez, previously the B-team coach, will take over temporarily. Braulio Vazquez has been appointed as the new sporting director.
Valencia currently sits at the bottom of the La Liga table with just one point and a 1:10 goal difference. Following a goalless draw against Celta Vigo in the opening round, they suffered defeats to Betis, Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona, and most recently, Sevilla on Sunday. Sanchez took charge of the team on Monday, tasked with helping the players recover, particularly from a psychological standpoint.
"When you're on a losing streak like this, it's as much an emotional challenge as it is a technical or tactical one," the interim coach stated, according to the club's official website.
"We have a quality squad of good players who are clearly determined to turn this situation around. They are talented and capable of doing so," added the Murcia native. The players will have their next opportunity to prove their coach right on Tuesday when they travel to face Deportivo Alaves.
Sporting Director Vazquez previously worked at Valencia from 2010 to 2013 and returns after nine years within the Osasuna organization.
