Two-thirds of the drivers registered for the “Rahovets - Lyaskovets” hill climb race did not start in yesterday's competitive heats. Out of 31 drivers entered for the second round of the hill climb championship near Veliko Tarnovo, only 10 competed yesterday and were subsequently classified.

The drivers' reaction followed a severe crash involving Iliya Boyadzhiev (Lada) on Saturday. He was initially transported to a hospital in Veliko Tarnovo and later transferred to Pirogov Hospital in Sofia. The Bulgarian Automobile Federation (BFAS) released a statement regarding Boyadzhiev's condition, confirming that “at present, there is no danger to Iliya Boyadzhiev's life.”

“Medical examinations have not revealed any severe life-threatening injuries, and his condition remains under specialist observation. Necessary treatment and recovery are forthcoming,” the statement added.

According to information from his friends, the chairman of ASK “Stara Zagora” underwent abdominal surgery, sustained four fractured ribs, and a broken jaw.

The drivers who refused to start yesterday's hill climb discussed the track conditions with race director Dimitar Stefanov and chief steward Valentin Bonev. A video circulated on social media captured part of the discussion, where drivers explained that the track had not been cleaned, unlike in previous years. Furthermore, dangerous sections were not protected with hay bales, such as the tree Boyadzhiev's car hit during his incident in the third practice run on Saturday.
