Okupe made the statement in disagreement with Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo who said that prayer and fasting could only save Nigeria if it was backed with hard work.

“I beg to disagree with VP. Yes there is no substitute for hard work but that alone can’t make a nation great. But God, fasting and prayer certainly will,” Okupe said via Twitter.

“We can neither limit the extent of God’s power nor can we compartmentalize his area of influence. God is sovereign.

“Jehoshaphat’s army did not have to fight. They did not lift a finger. God fought their battles. They did not have to lift a finger yet had victory,” he added.

Osinbajo, a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) made the comment on Wednesday, May 24, during a meeting with heads of ministries, departments and agencies in Abuja.
