The UFC event at the White House is just six weeks away, and the final phase of facility construction is about to commence.
On June 14, the UFC will host a fight night on the White House lawn as part of the "America 250" celebrations, commemorating the 250th anniversary of United States independence. The event is anticipated to be the UFC's biggest of the year, with details about its format gradually emerging over the past few months. Now, just over a month before the date, final preparations are beginning. Speaking to reporters on Friday, President Donald Trump revealed that construction of the arena for the event would start in the coming days. It is planned to accommodate several thousand spectators on the White House lawn, while others will be able to watch from the Ellipse – a park located across the street.
"We're going to have some of the greatest champions in the world," Trump stated. "Construction on the arena will begin next week. It will be right here and will seat approximately 5,000. Another 100,000 people will be down at the Ellipse, where there will be screens. And it's all free. It's going to be great."
The main event for UFC White House will feature a lightweight title bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje. The card also includes an interim heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane.
