The label founded in 2012 was given birth to after former label Mohits was dissolved, following the exit of D'banj in 2012.

Don Jazzy has since floated a label in Mavins  that has grown in leaps and bounds, although losing Wande Coal the following year 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.

This left Dr Sid, D Prince, Don Jazzy; Tiwa Savage however joined in 2012. Then came the Mavin 2.0s Di'ja, Korede Bello and Reekado Banks in 2014.

Iyanya followed through leaving TripleMG to sign with the Mavins in 2016 and then Poe, DNA Twins and Johnny Drille in 2017.

Writing on his social media page, the Dorobucci boss poured out his heart saying "Mavin is 5 today. We wanna say a big thank you to y’all for the support and prayers through the years. You guys have been amazing and we appreciate from the bottom of our hearts. GOD bless us all’.
