The Nigerian Senate had earlier rejected the President’s request for an approval to allow him get the funds, which the Federal Government says is for infrastructural development.
According to Daily Post, Enang said the Senate rejected the proposal because they needed more info on the borrowing plan.
The presidential aide said “What is happening is that there are strategic information that should be made available to them before considering it and the DG, Budget was already working on it.”
He said the “Senate understands that economic recession confronting the nation deserves sincere approach.”
Enang also said that “the proposed external borrowing of the President would properly fund the budget in the interest of National development.”
The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has however criticised the government’s plan to borrow, saying that no country will lend $30b to Nigeria.
