Consequently, George Russell's chances of winning the Formula 1 title this year have been assessed at a mere "5 percent," reflecting the challenging period he's enduring.

This assessment comes from former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner, who theorized that it would take a miracle for the Briton to claim the championship.

While Russell has often been slower than Antonelli, he has also been plagued by reliability issues and bad luck in his quest for a maiden title. With the season halfway through and Antonelli in strong form, Steiner sees Russell's hopes diminishing.

When asked on the "Red Flags" podcast to quantify Russell's chances, Steiner stated: "I'd give him five percent."

In the most recent race in Hungary, Russell found himself at the back of the pack on the very first lap after his car entered anti-stall mode.

Mercedes took responsibility for the incident, but Steiner suggested Russell should consider himself fortunate not to have been hit by a rival driver.

"Mercedes took some of the blame – whether they did it to calm him down or if it was real? I don't know, but I think he was very lucky to get out of that without being hit by anyone. Considering how far ahead he was and how long he remained stationary... he was lucky."
