Denver has 48 hours to respond: Jokic's teammate on the verge of signing with Oklahoma City!

The Denver Nuggets' roster appears to be eroding, and the team's management seems to be doing little about it. Jones is reportedly close to leaving the Colorado-based team, and the Nuggets have a 48-hour window to match Oklahoma City's offer, or one of Nikola Jokic's key teammates will join a direct rival.

Jones has reportedly reached an agreement with Oklahoma City, with a two-year contract worth $12 million on the table. The American forward was a standout player for Denver last season, particularly in the playoffs, where he shot an impressive 69 percent from beyond the arc. This metric made him the league's top three-point shooter in the postseason.

However, it's not a done deal for the Nuggets just yet. They have until July 27th at 11:59 PM ET (5:59 AM CET) to match Oklahoma City's offer. Once that deadline passes, he will officially become a member of the Thunder. Jones is a restricted free agent, as is Peyton Watson, and Denver is reportedly making every effort to retain Watson.

Jones's first season in Denver wasn't particularly noteworthy, but he excelled in his second year, stepping up admirably when Aaron Gordon struggled with injuries last season. While his statistics aren't eye-popping, averaging just 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, he's a prime example of a "glue guy" who connects the team with his presence on the court. The Nuggets' championship window appears to be slowly closing, and it doesn't seem like the Colorado front office is actively building a formidable team around Nikola Jokic.
